November 27th is Small Business Saturday — a national movement to promote shopping at small, local businesses for the holidays. This is the 6th Annual Small Business Saturday celebration in the district, and it is the largest local celebration of participating small businesses in Hampton Roads with over 50 businesses located within 1.5 miles here in the district. The ViBe Creative District is made up (almost exclusively) by small, locally-owned-and-operated businesses. The 2021 event will also include LIVE music by Big Juicy Entertainment honoring small local musicians as small businesses.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of the ViBe Creative District and events like this foster relationships amongst neighboring businesses and loyal customers,” said Kate Pittman, executive director of the ViBe Creative District. “Local businesses need your support as we continue on in this pandemic.”

“We are thrilled to see how this event has grown over the last 5 years to be the largest Small Business Saturday event in Hampton Roads with over 50 participating businesses. The ViBe District is a great place to grow a business and support shopping local,” said Lisa DeNoia who has started three new businesses in the district in the last 6 years—1701 coworking, Fathom Coffee and Port & Starboard.

Since 2016, business in the ViBe District have collaborated on this neighborhood celebration. 1701 co-working was the original organizer in 2016 and continues to be a neighborhood champion along with the ViBe District nonprofit.

The first annual Small Business Saturday in the ViBe was celebrated at 1701, the Neighborhood Champion, who organized approximately a dozen businesses and a scavenger hunt for the event.
