CALL FOR ARTISTS – Convention Center Identifier Wrap Artworks
The ViBe Creative District is seeking artists to submit digital artworks for a Spring 2023 installation at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and Virginia Beach Sports Center parking lots on the tall wayfinding identifiers (white metal structures). Approximately 20 artworks will be selected pending final review of artwork submissions. Artists maybe submit up to 3 digital images for review by the Virginia Beach Public Art Committee. Selected works will need to be provided in high-res formats that may be enlarged up to 10 feet tall to be professionally printed on wrap materials. All digital art must be submitted to the shape of the custom template provided. Artwork will be on 1 side of the identifier only; it will not wrap around the entire structure.
There is no specific theme for artwork requests. Artists are encouraged to create colorful dynamic artworks that will attract positive attention and promote family friendly engagement with the thousands of guests that park at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and Virginia Beach Sports Center every week year-round. Artists are encouraged to choose works that reflect Virginia Beach and our local cultural arts scene in a positive manner.
This public art project is hosted in partnership with the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department and is inspired by the success of the ViBe District’s Neighborhood Identifier murals and Digital Utility Box art wraps. Professional printing and installation of the artworks is expected to remain in place for 3-5 years.
ARTIST STIPENDS
- Selected artists will be paid $500 per selected artwork once a full high-res image is received, and the artist signs off on the professional printing proof.
